Châteauguay, le 19 octobre 2017, Réfection des parcs, protection des espaces verts, aménagement d’aires multigénérationelles,  Le parti de la mairesse Nathalie Simon entend bien poursuivre le travail amorcé au cours des dernières années.

« Le plan directeur des parcs devrait être déposé et adopté prochainement.  Il découle d’une vaste consultation publique menée auprès de la population.   Jeunes et moins jeunes se sont exprimés sur leur vision de ces aires de jeux ou de détente communes », explique Nathalie Simon, mairesse sortante et chef du parti ACTION CITOYENNE / CITIZENS’ACTION.

Châteauguay compte près d’une soixantaine de parcs.  La réfections de ces terrains de jeux a débuté, il y a quelques années déjà. « Près d’une dizaine d’entre eux ont été complètement rénovés.  Il y a encore beaucoup de travail.  Nous savons aussi que certains quartiers sont mieux desservis que d’autres et nous cherchons des solutions.  De plus, il faut intégrer l’aspect multigénérationel, l’agriculture urbaine, le jeu, la détente et d’aires d’exercice autant pour les citoyens que pour leurs amis à quatre pattes.  Ce que nous cherchons c’est améliorer l’expérience pour tous les citoyens », soutient Mme Simon.

Conscients de l’importance des parcs et des espaces verts, tout comme l’accès au plan d’eau que sont la rivière Châteauguay et le lac Saint-Louis pour la qualité de vie des citoyens, ACTION CITOYENNE/CITIZENS’ACTION s’engage à poursuivre leur mise en valeur.  « L’exemple du chalet du parc Laberge et des aménagements prévus l’an prochain illustre bien ce que nous avons prévu.  Ce chalet donnera de nouvelle facilités aux organisations sportives mais servira aussi de halte aux promeneurs à pieds ou à vélo, tout en offrant un point de location d’embarcations.  Un quai pourra accueillir les pêcheurs et il y aura un accès à la rivière », souligne Nathalie Simon.

Depuis plusieurs années, ACTION CITOYENNE/CITIZENS’ACTION travaille à la mise en valeur de ses milieux naturels que ce soit par l’achat et la protection à perpétuité de l’île Saint-Bernard, de la protection de la ceinture verte, de la construction d’un nouveau chalet au centre écologique Fernand-Seguin et par l’organisation d’activités favorisant la découverte de nos richesses naturelles et patrimoniales collectives.

Châteauguay counts nearly sixty parks. The repairs of these playgrounds began a few years ago. « There are still a lot of work, and we know that some neighborhoods are better served than others and we are looking for solutions, multigenerational, urban agriculture, play, relaxation and exercise areas for both citizens and their four-legged friends. What we are looking for is to improve the experience for all citizens » , states Mrs. Simon.

Aware of the importance of parks and green spaces, as well as access to the lake of Châteauguay and Lake Saint-Louis for the quality of life of the citizens, ACTION CITOYENNE / CITIZENS’ACTION engages to continue their development. « The example of the chalet at Parc Laberge and the planned developments next year is a good example of what we have planned. This chalet will give new facilities to the sports organizations but will also serve as a stop for walking or cycling, a boat rental point, a dock that will accommodate the fishermen and there will be access to the river. » underlines Nathalie Simon.

For several years, ACTION CITOYENNE / CITIZENS’ACTION has been working to develop its natural habitats, whether by the purchase and the protection of Île Saint-Bernard in perpetuity, protecting the green belt, construction of a new chalet at the Fernand-Seguin ecological center and the organization of activities to discover our natural and patrimonial wealth.
